City of Monroe voting locations will be open for in-person voting for the Primary Election, Tuesday, August 4th, 2026.  Polling places are open from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM.  

The Clerk’s Office reminds residents that absentee ballots may be returned in-person or via the City Hall Drop Box located in the parking lot adjacent to the building by 8:00 PM Election Day.

Please note that Michigan's August Primary Election is different from the November General Election.  In a primary election, each political party is choosing the candidates who will appear on the November General Election ballot. Votes must be within one party or the other. Split party votes must be rejected by state law.  The one-party rule applies only during the August Primary.


ELECTION DATES TO KNOW!

  • July 25 - August 2 - Early Voting
  • July 31 - Last day the Clerk’s Office may mail AV ballots. Clerk's Office open until 5:00 PM
  • August 3 : Up to 4:00 PM - Last day to obtain an AV ballot and vote in the Clerk’s Office in person only
  • August 4 : Up to 8:00 PM - Election Day registrants may register, obtain and vote an AV ballot at the Clerk's Office
  • August 4 - August Primary Election
