St. Mary's Park Phase 2
St. Mary's Park Improvements Phase 2
The City of Monroe is pleased to announce St. Mary’s Park redevelopment project Phase 2 is currently underway!
St. Mary’s Park is currently closed to the public as construction moves forward on Phase 2 of the park improvement project. The park restrooms will remain accessible through November 1.
For the safety of residents, visitors and construction crews, the public is asked to remain outside all closed areas and not enter the park while construction is underway.
Phase Two: October 2026, through Spring 2027
This multi-phase initiative is designed to enhance accessibility, beauty, and functionality—ensuring the park continues to serve as a welcoming and vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike. Phase 2 will build on previous investments in St. Mary’s Park and includes:
• A new ADA-accessible playground with hard-surfaced, accessible pathways
• Resurfacing of the basketball and tennis courts
• A new pavilion near the tennis courts
• New lighting around the tennis courts
• New seating options and picnic tables for events
• Additional improvements throughout the park to further improve recreational opportunities
Construction Impacts & Visitor Access
- Park Access: St. Mary’s Park will remain CLOSED during construction
- Events: Special events will be relocated to venues as appropriate
- Parking: The main parking lot will be open
- Pedestrian Access: Efforts will be made to keep the MLK Jr. Pedestrian Footbridge open to Elm Avenue; however, intermittent closures may occur
- Timeline: Phase Two construction is expected to be complete spring, 2027, weather permitting
The City of Monroe appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this time of progress. We look forward to welcoming everyone to a revitalized St. Mary’s Park upon completion of the improvements.
