Confirm OK Program

CONFIRM OK PROGRAM

The Monroe Public Safety Department is proud to help connect our residents with the Confirm OK Program, a free service designed to provide an added level of safety and reassurance for individuals who live alone, older adults, individuals with special needs, or anyone who may benefit from a regular wellness check.Confirm Ok Logo

WHAT IS CONFIRM OK?

Confirm OK is an automated telephone wellness-check program administered through the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Participants choose a designated time and frequency to receive an automated phone call checking on their well-being.  When the call comes in, the participant simply answers the phone and follows the instructions to confirm that they are OK. As long as the participant responds, no further action is needed.

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE DOESN'T ANSWER?

If a participant does not answer the scheduled call, the Confirm OK system will make additional attempts to reach them. If those attempts are unsuccessful, Monroe County Central Dispatch is notified. Central Dispatch will then send a law enforcement officer to the participant's residence to conduct a well-being check. For residents of the City of Monroe, a Monroe Police officer will respond and attempt to contact the participant to ensure they are safe.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM CONFIRM OK?

The program can provide additional reassurance for:

  • Older adults who live alone
  • Individuals with medical, mobility, or other special needs
  • People who may not have family or caregivers nearby
  • Residents who simply want the added security of a regular wellness check
  • Family members who are concerned about a loved one living independently

Confirm OK does not replace 911, emergency medical services, caregivers, or regular contact with family and friends. Instead, it provides another layer of protection by helping ensure someone checks on a participant when they unexpectedly fail to respond to their scheduled call.

HOW DOES REGISTRATION WORK?

City of Monroe residents who complete a Confirm OK registration form will have their information reviewed by the Monroe Public Safety Department Records Bureau to confirm their City address and ensure responding officers have access to important information provided during registration. The information is also forwarded to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Records Bureau for enrollment into the Confirm OK system.  Once enrolled, the participant will begin receiving calls according to the schedule they selected.

WHY IS THIS PROGRAM IMPORTANT?

For someone living alone, an unexpected fall, illness, injury, or other emergency could leave them unable to call for help. Confirm OK provides a simple way to regularly confirm that everything is all right—and establishes a process for someone to check on them when it isn't.

The Monroe Public Safety Department encourages residents to share information about Confirm OK with family members, neighbors, older adults, and others in our community who may benefit from this service.

A simple phone call can provide peace of mind — and when that call goes unanswered, Confirm OK helps make sure someone checks in.
