I-75 REBUILDING PROJECT IN MONROE


The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is planning major improvements to I-75 in the City of Monroe and Monroe County. Residents are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the project and ask questions.

MDOT plans to rebuild 2.4 miles of I-75 from Laplaisance Road to N. Dixie Highway. This work will take place in the City of Monroe, Frenchtown Charter Township, and Monroe Charter Township. Construction is expected to begin in 2029 and continue through 2030.

The project is designed to improve safety and traffic flow.

Plans include:

• Removing the Elm Avenue interchange to reduce merging and weaving issues
• Front Street interchange rebuilt with improved ramps to help vehicles and trucks move more easily.
• Traffic flow at the intersections of Front Street and N. Dixie Highway will also be improved.

Community members, city representatives, local businesses, and all interested residents are welcome to attend. MDOT staff will be available to share information and answer questions.
