Storm Water Protection

Stormwater Protection

The City of Monroe is located in the River Raisin Watershed; an area of land where all the water from rain or snow collected and flows to a lake, ocean, or reservoir.   Additionally, when it rains, water washes over lawns, sidewalks, and streets, collecting litter, chemicals found in lawn fertilizers, bacteria found in pet waste, and oil from cars. This polluted water then enters roadside ditches and the storm drains found in the streets, and large pipes connect the storm drains to the River Raisin.  This water will eventually flows from the River Raisin to Lake Erie.

The City of Monroe is committed to helping protect and restore the River Raisin and its tributaries, keeping our waterways clean.  Please reference the below documents and links for additional information.
