Elections
Michigan through election laws has established three potential election dates each year*:
- The May regular election date, which is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May
- The August regular election date, which is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in August.
- The November regular election date, which is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
Polling places are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on election days. The City Clerk is the City's chief elections officer and is responsible for the administration of all City Elections.
*Presidential election years can include one additional election date for a total of four potential elections.
Important Dates 2024
August 6: Primary Election
- June 27 - AV ballots available
- July 27 - Early Voting Period Begins
- August 2 - Last day Clerk’s Office may mail AV ballots. Clerk's Office open until 5:00 PM
- August 4 - Last day of early voting
- August 5- Last day to obtain an AV ballot and vote in the Clerk’s office
- August 6: Up to 8:00 pm - Election Day registrants may register, obtain and vote an AV Ballot at Clerk's Office
- August 6 - Presidential Primary Election
