City of Monroe 2010 City Council Goals

 

   

GOAL:            Intensify City-Wide Economic Development Initiatives

Objective: Develop comprehensive economic development and re-development strategies and  action plans.

Objective: Re-centralize development leadership to coordinate and implement strategies and action plans.

Objective: Stabilize fragile and vulnerable neighborhoods through focused and consistent ordinance enforcement.

Objective: Integrate tourism, downtown initiatives, and historical assets, especially the National Park Battlefield, into development efforts.

 

GOAL:            Maximize Cost Containment While Maintaining Quality of Services

 Objective:      Develop and implement additional economies and efficiencies.

 Objective:      Maximize the use of alternative and non-traditional funding sources.

 Objective:      Explore additional opportunities for intergovernmental cooperation.

 

GOAL:            Emphasize Infrastructure Improvements

Objective:      Establish as high priority during budget allocation process.

Objective:      Continually update and implement maintenance and improvement plans.

 

GOAL:            Embrace and Encourage Community Involvement

Objective:      Recruit, educate, and retain Board, Commission, and project volunteers.

Objective:      Increase opportunities for citizen service and neighborhood associations. 

Objective:      Recognize community-based organizations, volunteers, and citizens.
